It is ideal for immediate-release formulations where fast therapeutic action is essential, such as prescription medicines, OTC products, and pediatric-friendly dosage forms.
These thin film coatings are engineered to break apart quickly — typically within 30 seconds to 2 minutes — upon contact with saliva or moisture. Formulated with polymers like HPMC or methylcellulose and super-disintegrants such as sodium starch glycolate or croscarmellose sodium, they swell rapidly, create fissures in the coating, and promote swift tablet core breakup for enhanced drug delivery.
